Deep in Shinjuku, seat of the Tokyo government, packed with Restaurants, Museums, Parks, Theaters, Shopping, and all manner of attractions, Tokyo is at Lakeland's doorstep. The Shinjuku Gyoen Gardens, the Imperial Meiji Shrine, Trendy Harajuku, Theater-rich Kabukicho, the city's most towering skyscrapers–all within walking distance. Strike out in any direction and you're bound to meet all variety of faces and places. Even better, more than a dozen rail, subway, and bus lines head to all points of Tokyo and all destinations in Japan.
When you need a break from the big city, Lakeland College Japan international students often set out on day trips around the Kanto area. Visiting the giant Buddha of Kamakura, climbing Mt. Fuji, enjoying the Autumn forests of Nikko, joining a barbecue on the Yokohama seaside, or even going strawberry-picking in the local countryside, there's never a shortage of places to go. During the month-long breaks between semesters, jump on a bullet train and race to the ends of the archipelago, or board a ferry to Japan's outlying Pacific islands.
